In part two of our EGR Systems 101 Series, Spencer and Brad (co-owners of FASS EGR Solutions) take a look at some engine parts from a 120,000 6.7 Cummins diesel.
Despite only having 120,000 miles, the 6.7 Cummins’ EGR system had already laid down a thick coating of soot throughout the engine. If left alone, the factory EGR system would’ve caused clogging, excessive wear, and ultimately premature failure of vital engine components.
While removing problematic emissions equipment from the 6.7 Cummins has been popular for a long time (also known as “deleting”), increasing pressure from law enforcement is making that more difficult.
But, that doesn’t mean diesel truck owners are doomed to deal with EGR issues. FASS EGR Filter Kits are the next evolution of diesel upgrades—eliminating 85% of the soot from the EGR system WITHOUT removing or disabling it.
What does that mean for truck owners? It means a 6x (or more) increase in EGR system life, as well as DRASTICALLY reduced wear on downstream engine components.
