When is the EGR Filter Kit coming out for the 6.7 liter Cummins?
And we’re here to tell you, it’s coming. Designing an EGR Filter Kit for the 6.7 Cummins presented some unique challenges according to Spencer Ekstam—owner and founder of FASS EGR Solutions.
In a recent post, he had this to say:
“Although the FASS EGR Filter kit was developed on the 6.7 Cummins I had to step back to rethink the kit to move into production. With the EGR cooler being directly attached to the exhaust manifold we either have to relocate the cooler and all its components or design a new manifold.
The cooler is the most difficult to move so the manifold was the best option. Not the most ideal but we can solve two issues with one kit(read below).
The 6.7 Cummins kit will include a OE style 304SS cast manifold and casted filter plumbing. These two components will eliminate cracked manifolds that still occur and remove 85% of the particulate matter that would normally recycle into your engine.
Extending the life of EGR and engine components.
Plumbing details: The EGR will exit the manifold from the turbo inlet, go through the EGR filter and then pass back through the manifold into the EGR cooler. There is an internal passage to keep the cleaned EGR air separate from the exhaust flowing through the manifold.”
